Three-time New York Times bestselling poet Kate Baer will read from and sign her latest collection, “How About Now: Poems,” at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena on Friday, Nov. 14, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features Baer in conversation with poet and performer Arielle Estoria. The appearance marks one stop on Baer’s extensive national book tour, with multiple dates already sold out across the country. The Pasadena event follows a sold-out appearance in Santa Monica on Nov. 13.

“How About Now,” published by Harper Perennial on Nov. 4, represents Baer’s newest collection. The 112-page hardcover explores what it means to grow older, release children into their own lives, and reclaim the ever-evolving self.

“Kate Baer’s poems are so full of life—life as it is now, that I can hear them breathing. I loved this book,” wrote Emma Straub, New York Times bestselling author.

Baer’s first collection, “What Kind of Woman,” became an instant #1 New York Times bestseller in November 2020. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker.

Joining Baer is Arielle Estoria, a Los Angeles-based poet, speaker, author and actor. Estoria is author of “The Unfolding” (2023) and released a debut spoken word album in 2024. She has worked with major brands including Google, Lululemon and Starbucks.

The event takes place at Vroman’s Bookstore, Southern California’s oldest independent bookstore, founded in 1894. The bookstore hosts over 400 free community events annually and was named Bookseller of the Year in 2008 by Publishers Weekly.

Tickets are $22 and include one copy of the book.
