Book Offers Unusual Perspective on Nonprofit Fundraising: the Donor’s

Published on Jul 23, 2022

Red Hen Press in Pasadena is celebrating “Philanthropy Revolution: How to Inspire Donors, Build Relationships, and Make a Difference,” a book by philanthropist, entrepreneur and convener Lisa Greer, with a conversation about fundraising.

On Wednesday, July 27, Greer will be in conversation with Red Hen Press co-founder and Managing Editor Kate Gale, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Red Hen Press office at 1540 Lincoln Ave.

The book – the first and only book on philanthropy and the nonprofit sector written from a donor perspective – sounds the alarm on what Lisa sees as an endemic problem among charitable organizations: fundraising tactics that are illogical, irritating, ineffective, and that hold back the sector’s progress.

“Philanthropy Revolution” was published by HarperCollins in 2020. Greer is also the author of popular blog “Philanthropy 451” and a regular presence on Twitter and LinkedIn as a multitalented expert and thought leader.

She is an active real estate investor, advisor to many nonprofits, and the co-founder of Tandem Careplanning, a Public Benefit Corporation that champions both in-home care seekers and caregivers. In addition, Lisa Greer sits on the board of the New Israel Fund and is an active member of the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors.

In 2020, Greer was appointed to the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls (CCSWG).

On Wednesday, Lisa Greer will briefly read from “Philanthropy Revolution,” and then join in conversation with Kate Gale. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will follow.
