On Tuesday, December 30, Hastings Branch Library will host “Molecular Mysteries,” a free hands-on workshop introducing children ages seven to 11 to atomic science. Facilitated by Caltech graduate students, the program invites young participants to explore “the world too small to see with your eyes” and build molecules with their own hands.

The four p.m. workshop exemplifies expanded STEM programming at Pasadena Public Library since the Central Library’s May 2021 seismic retrofit closure. The 10-branch system has intensified educational offerings across locations. Hastings Branch, home to over 64,000 items, has become a hub for interactive learning programming.

Recent workshops at Hastings have demonstrated the branch’s commitment to hands-on educational experiences. The library system has also distributed Innovation Lab equipment—including STEAM kits, board games, and video games—to branch locations.

Registration for “Molecular Mysteries” is required through the Pasadena Public Library’s event calendar.

“Molecular Mysteries” will run on Tuesday, December 30 at 4 p.m. Hastings Branch Library, 3325 East Orange Grove Boulevard, Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 744-7262 or visit https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D191091733.
