The Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley invites patients, survivors, caregivers, families and clinicians into its Sierra Madre headquarters Monday evening for “Connections Open House,” a free community gathering built around a single big question: where is comprehensive cancer care headed?

The event, held in observance of National Cancer Research Month, centers on an expert panel discussion titled “The Future of Comprehensive Cancer Care.” Guests will also be guided through the nonprofit’s support spaces, including the group rooms, exercise studio and quiet patio that anchor its programming. Light refreshments will be served, and the evening doubles as a networking moment for anyone navigating cancer in the San Gabriel Valley.

The nonprofit, known to its members as CSC-SGV, has spent more than 30 years offering free, professionally led support groups, healthy lifestyle classes and educational workshops to families touched by cancer. After years as a tenant of the Pasadena Humane building, the organization moved into its first owned home, a 7,000-square-foot facility at 331 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., in mid-2023. The building anchors more than 15 weekly and monthly support groups and over 100 monthly workshops, all offered at no cost.

“We are thrilled to have a permanent home,” Patricia Ostiller, CSC-SGV’s executive director, said when the building opened, citing the stability it provides participants after years of lease-driven moves. Monday’s open house is, in part, an invitation to neighbors who may not yet know that stability is now permanent, and free.

Connections Open House” will run on Monday, May 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley, 331 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre. For more information and to RSVP, call (626) 796-1083 or visit cancersupportsgv.org. Admission is free.
