The world’s largest event dedicated to cats, pop culture, and community is set to return to Southern California this summer. CatCon 2024 will take place on August 3rd and 4th at the Pasadena Convention Center, organizers announced.
The two-day extravaganza, running from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, offers a diverse array of activities for cat enthusiasts. Attendees can expect workshops with experts in feline health and culture, as well as celebrity appearances.
Over 150 exhibitors will showcase merchandise and gifts for cats and their human companions. The event will also feature numerous photo opportunities, contests, and giveaways, according to the official announcement.
A highlight of the convention is the CatCon Adoption Village, where hundreds of cats and kittens will be available for adoption. However, organizers stress that attendees’ personal cats are not permitted at the event.
The event guidelines state: “Attendees who arrive with a cat will be turned away at the door.” This policy is in place for the safety of guests and feline companions alike.
The Pasadena Convention Center, located at 300 East Green Street, offers subterranean parking with entrances on Euclid Avenue and Marengo Avenue. Public transportation options include nearby Metro Gold Line stations for those preferring not to drive.
Organizers emphasize their commitment to inclusivity, stating: “We strive to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all of our participants… regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, race, color, or religion.”
CatCon continues to grow in popularity, with last year’s event hosting 55.4k attendees, according to figures provided by Ticket Out, Inc., the event organizer. All ticket sales are final and non-refundable, but tickets can be transferred to others.
Various ticket options are available, including a VIP “Very Important PURR-son” package for $175 plus fees, which includes front-of-line entrance to the show. Adult single-day tickets are priced at $45 plus fees, while an adult weekend pass is available for $80 plus fees. Child admission (ages 5-12) is $10 plus fees for a single day or $15 plus fees for the weekend children under 5 can attend for free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult..
Attendees can also pre-order event T-shirts in various sizes for $32 plus fees and tax, with pickup available in the CatCon lobby adjacent to registration.
