Celebrate Mother’s Day at Pasadena’s Historic Gamble House

Published on May 7, 2022

The Gamble House in Pasadena is offering one-hour docent-led tours for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8, when guests may enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea beverage and a sweet treat on the Gamble House terrace and while exploring the lovely garden in this historic setting.

You can choose a special gift for Mom at the Gamble House bookstore, where ticketed guests will receive a 10-percent discount on all purchases on the day of their tour.

For that special gift, here are some recommendations from the Gamble House bookstore to give your loved one for the holiday:

“Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect” by Victoria Kastner.
This is a compelling new biography that introduces Julia Morgan as both a pioneering architect and a captivating individual. With over 150 archival images and full-color photographs printed throughout, the book features interviews, letters, and Morgan’s diaries, including never-before-seen reflections on faith, art, and her life experiences. A limited number of signed copies are available. Combine it with a letterpress card on 100-percent recycled paper from Heartell Press.

Custom handmade ceramic mug by Linnea Campbell.
Each cup is hand-thrown and embellished with Linnea Campbell’s original illustrations, which were exclusively created for The Gamble House. Other available styles include a rose, a bat, and a crane. The mugs have a perfect indent for your thumb to rest comfortably in and are dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Pair one with your loved one’s favorite cozy drink, like Nuda Botanica’s 100-percent organic Revive loose leaf tea.

“Design Your Garden Tool Kit” by Michelle Gervais.
Perfect for gardeners and plant parents alike. With 150 reusable illustrated stickers, plus a fold-out design board and instruction on garden design, Mom will have everything she needs to try out her gardening vision before even picking up a trowel. Sweeten the (planting) pot with a Fragrant Flower Scatter Garden Kit to get her started. The kit includes 15 different seed varieties and covers 100 square feet.

“Kingfisher with Lotus Flower: Birds of Japan by Hokusai, Hiroshige and Other Masters of the Woodblock Print.”
A celebration of Japanese printmaking, birds and their habitats, and the pleasures of nature, this magnificent boxed set features more than sixty impeccably reproduced images from masters of the form. Fans of Japanese art, lovers of birds, and anyone who enjoys beautiful depictions of the natural world will cherish this beautifully satisfying volume. Add one of our laser cut William Morris cards featuring intricate and tapestry-inspired designs. Every card is proudly hand designed and cut before being produced in laser cut in our North London studio, United Kingdom.
