The Chronic Tacos restaurant at 345 S. Lake Ave. will offer loyalty program members a free burrito with the purchase of another on April 2, National Burrito Day, according to a company press release distributed March 12.

The one-day promotion requires customers to redeem the offer through the Chronic Tacos mobile app, the press release states. Customers must be loyalty members to participate. New customers must download the app and enroll in the rewards program before April 2 to participate, according to the company.

Eligible burritos include Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas, Fish and Shrimp, according to the press release. Cali and Surf & Turf burritos are excluded. The offer is limited to one per customer per order and available while supplies last.

“Our burritos are packed with bold flavors and fresh ingredients, and this BOGO offer is a fun way to share that experience with friends and family,” Mike Mohammed, CEO of Chronic Tacos, said in the press release.

The Pasadena franchise is operated by Rashad Randle and Johnnie Moore, who opened the South Lake Avenue location in 2023 after previously launching a Chronic Tacos in Monrovia, according to Pasadena Weekly. The pair donated a portion of their Pasadena grand-opening proceeds to Pasadena Unified School District high schools, Pasadena Weekly reported.

“We really want to be a community staple,” Randle said in a 2024 interview with Pasadena Weekly.

Moore, in the same interview, said, “We want to become a destination for people in Pasadena to come to after the Little League games, after church, anything. We want to kind of become a community place.”

National Burrito Day falls on the first Thursday in April each year. Chronic Tacos, founded in 2002 in Newport Beach, operates more than 50 locations in the United States, Canada and Japan, according to the company.

The loyalty program awards one point per dollar spent, and new members receive a free taco upon sign-up, according to the Chronic Tacos website. Customers can enroll at chronictacos.com/rewards.

The Pasadena location at 345 S. Lake Ave., Suite 101, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to its online listing. The restaurant can be reached at (626) 298-6432.

The promotion is one of several loyalty-exclusive offers the chain has run in recent months; Chronic Tacos offered free churros through its app on Halloween 2025, according to RestaurantNews.com.
