The Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is sponsoring a series of free workshops starting Wednesday in which people can learn dance steps, style, movement, drum rhythms and songs associated with Aztec dance.

These workshops will be held at Washington STEAM Multilingual Academy, 1505 N. Marengo Ave., and are open to all ages. Classes begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The city’s Fall 2021 Recreation Guide shows Aztec Dance classes are scheduled every Wednesday evening up to Oct. 27.

The workshops will start with basic movements and then progress to a repertory of choreographed dance steps. All classes are accompanied by live Aztec drumming.

Members of a Pasadena-based Aztec Dance group are coordinating with the Parks Department to conduct the free workshops.
