On Monday, October 6, visitors will experience this unique blend as the Pasadena Conservatory of Music presents another installment of its popular “Music in the Rose Garden” series.
The 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. performance continues a collaboration that has transformed how visitors experience one of Southern California’s most beloved gardens. Musical performances are free with general admission to The Huntington, which is $29 for adults on weekdays and $34 on weekends and holidays.
“Coming into the Rose Garden is a transformative experience … The addition of music takes them to the next level of enjoyment,” said Tom Carruth, E.L. & Ruth B. Shannon Curator of the Rose Collection at The Huntington.
The series features rotating solo and duo performers on violin, cello and guitar, allowing visitors to wander freely through the garden while listening to live classical music.
“What a thrill to perform classical favorites amidst the natural beauty of the Huntington Rose Garden … The birdsong, fragrance of the roses and families gathered to listen create a most uplifting environment for musicians,” said Erika Walczak, a violinist and Pasadena Conservatory faculty member.
Among the conservatory’s faculty who have participated is Juri Yun, a Canadian classical guitarist and doctoral candidate at USC Thornton School of Music. Yun debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2019 as a competition laureate and has won prizes in Canada and the U.S. since 2014.
Music in the Rose Garden will run on Monday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino.
