The trio brings together artists with strong professional and academic credentials. Chan is an Artist Diploma candidate at the Colburn School and has received recognition in major flute competitions, including the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition and the Donald Peck International Flute Competition. Caputo is an active orchestral musician who has been appointed Associate Principal Clarinet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has performed with the Verbier Festival Orchestra. Lee, a pianist pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Colburn Conservatory of Music, has also earned praise for her solo and collaborative work and serves on the faculty of the Colburn Academy.
According to Boston Court Pasadena, the evening will showcase “up-and-coming Colburn School artists Martha Chan, Andrea Caputo, and Chi-Jo Lee” in a program featuring Debussy’s *Première rhapsodie*, Weber’s *Grand duo Concertant*, Shostakovich’s *Four Waltzes*, and other works. Additional listed pieces include compositions by Emmanuel, Chaminade, Gianopoulos, Herbert, and Mozart. The breadth of the repertoire positions the concert as both a showcase for emerging performers and an accessible entry point for audiences interested in chamber music.
The event adds to Boston Court Pasadena’s spring music calendar and underscores the venue’s role in presenting both established and emerging artists. For local audiences, the concert offers an opportunity to hear a young ensemble with connections to one of the region’s leading conservatories in an intimate performance setting.
