After six weeks of writing, workshopping and final critiques, a new class of Cool Beans Comedy students will make their stand-up debuts on one of the country’s most storied comedy stages.
The Cool Beans Comedy 5 p.m. Showcase on Sunday, Feb. 22, will feature graduates performing their first full sets at the Ice House Comedy Club’s Legendary Room in Pasadena, the oldest continuously operating comedy club in the United States.
Cool Beans Comedy, founded in 2009 by actor, writer, director and three-time TEDx speaker Corey Martin Craig, runs an intensive six-week program that culminates in a live showcase at the Ice House.
Past Cool Beans graduates have gone on to appear on Netflix, Comedy Central, comedy festivals and clubs nationwide, and on SiriusXM.
The Ice House, located at 24 N. Mentor Ave., has hosted generations of major comedians and has been home to more than 75 live comedy albums.
Cool Beans operates exclusively at the venue and also offers a kids program, Cool Beans Kids, for aspiring comics ages 8 to 16.
