Craft Your Holiday Gifts at Free Weekly Knitting Workshop

Lamanda Park Branch Library offers weekly instruction for crafters to create handmade scarves and other seasonal presents
Published on Nov 26, 2025

Want to make a handmade scarf for the holidays? The Lamanda Park Branch Library offers free knitting and crocheting instruction every Wednesday morning, giving crafters the chance to create personalized gifts.

The weekly workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and teaches basic knitting and crocheting techniques. Participants bring their own yarn, needles, and crochet hooks to create projects like colorful scarves.

The program is supported by the Friends of the Pasadena Public Library, the nonprofit organization that celebrated its 50th anniversary in September. Over five decades, the Friends have funded essential library services, including the Children’s Summer Reading Challenge.

This week’s November 26 session faces a scheduling consideration: while the 11 a.m. class may conflict with Thanksgiving meal preparations for some families, the library will close early at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve. The library will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28.

The Lamanda Park Branch serves the community at 140 South Altadena Drive in Pasadena. The Lamanda Park Branch is one of 10 branches in the Pasadena Public Library system, which serves the community with extensive programming throughout the year.

Residents needing ADA accommodations should contact the library at least 72 hours in advance.

Holiday Crochet & Knitting will run on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to noon. Lamanda Park Branch Library, 140 S. Altadena Drive, Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 744-7266 or visit https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/calendar/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D190951727.
