What we’re Watching: CW High School Football Drama `All American’ Top Streaming Ratings

The CW high school football drama “All American” was the most-watched streamed program according to the weekly report released Thursday by Nielsen, with the Netflix teen mystery “Outer Banks” second.

Viewers watched 1.433 billion minutes of “All American’s 51 episodes between July 26-Aug. 1, including its 19-episode third season, which began streaming on Netflix July 27.

“Outer Banks” was also among the four programs in the latest top 10 that were not in the previous week’s, with viewers watching 1.423 billion minutes of its 20 episodes, including its 10-episode second season which was released July 30.

The other programs in the latest top 10 not in the previous week’s were the AMC horror series “The Walking Dead,” eighth for the week with 554 million minutes watched of its 153 episodes, including its 22-episode 10th season, which began streaming on Netflix July 26, and The CW superhero series “The Flash,” ninth for the week with 519 million minutes watched of its 151 episodes, including its 18-episode seventh season, which began streaming on Netflix July 28.

Dropping out of the top 10 were the Netflix coming of age comedy- drama. “Never Have I Ever”; the computer-animated coming-of-age fantasy film “Luca,” which streams on Disney+; the Netflix comedy “Atypical”; and the 2010-15 Public Broadcasting Service British historical drama “Downton Abbey,” which streams on Netflix.

The Netflix romantic drama “Virgin River,” which finished first the previous two weeks, dropped to third, with 782 million minutes watched of its 30 episodes, 38.4% less than the 1.27 billion minutes watched the previous week.

All 10 programs in the top 10 stream on Netflix. Nielsen also announces streaming viewership of Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Hulu programming.

The top 10 consisted of seven programs that originally aired on U.S. broadcast or cable networks, two original streaming series, and “CoComelon,” which originated on YouTube.

The top 10 programs were “All American”; “Outer Banks”; “Virgin River”; “CoComelon”; “Grey’s Anatomy”; “Manifest”; “Criminal Minds”; “The Walking Dead”; “The Flash”; and “NCIS.”

The figures only reflect television set-related viewing, including such television-connected devices as Roku and Apple TV. Mobile-only viewing is not included in Nielsen’s streaming measurement systems.
