Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge will host a virtual information session for prospective volunteers on May 17, providing community members an opportunity to support one of Southern California’s premier botanical attractions.

The session, scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom, will introduce participants to the garden’s history, mission and available volunteer opportunities.

Those interested in volunteering must complete an online interest form through the Descanso Gardens website, https://www.descansogardens.org/support/volunteer/, to receive an invitation to the virtual event.

During the information session, prospective volunteers will learn about the application process and current openings within the volunteer program.

Descanso Gardens requires volunteers to be at least 16 years old. However, the organization offers Student Community Service Days for youth ages 12-15 when accompanied by a supervising adult.

The volunteer information session is categorized as an adult event by the gardens.

Descanso Gardens, located in La Canada Flintridge, is known for its botanical collections and seasonal displays.
