Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge will host a special Earth Week Horticulture Display on April 21 as part of its weeklong observation of Earth Day.

The display, created by Descanso horticulture staff, will celebrate native plants including the garden’s majestic oaks. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is included with regular admission to the gardens.

“This display highlights our commitment to celebrating and preserving California’s indigenous plants,” said a Descanso Gardens statement. “Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of native flora in our ecosystem.”

Descanso Gardens, nationally accredited as a “museum of living collections,” features landscapes that showcase the relationship between humans and the natural world. The 150-acre botanical garden has a rich history dating back centuries, beginning with indigenous peoples who relied on the area’s oak trees for sustenance.

No registration is required to view the Earth Week Horticulture Display. Regular admission tickets can be purchased at the entrance.

The display is appropriate for all ages and is listed as suitable for both adults and families with children.
