Descanso Gardens is trading its botanical beauty for Halloween haunts this October with “Carved,” a family-friendly experience featuring illuminated jack-o’-lanterns, massive hand-carved gourds and ghostly surprises.
Running nightly Oct. 3 to 30, guests can wander trails filled with vibrant light displays and new vignettes along the Pumpkin Trail, collecting treats at Harvest Acres.
Five towering wood spirits carved by Chainsaw Jenna greet visitors alongside new ghostly characters created specifically for 2025.
The popular Descanso Railroad features special seasonal lighting, while the returning Rhizome light sculpture by Tom and Lien Dekyvere highlights human connection.
“The artwork is based on the concept of the simultaneous interconnections and divergence in society, because we humans are connected in the same way the roots of the tree intertwine below ground,” the artists explained.
The Farmhouse restaurant remains open during the event, offering farm-to-table dining by Chef Richard Mead.
Guests can choose free standard parking or $12 valet service.
Carved will run Oct. 3 to 30 at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Dr., La Cañada Flintridge.
