Dig Into Bungalow Heaven’s Plant Sale

The good news for everyone whose Sunday plans usually involve scrolling: the kids are running the show this weekend

Bungalow Heaven has long been the kind of neighborhood where the Craftsman-bungalow gospel runs deep — but this Sunday, the pull is the kids in the front yard at 1285 N. Wilson Ave. The Bungalow Heaven Kids Club has teamed up with Pasa Plants for a Spring Plant Sale and Fundraiser, and the lineup is wildly more interesting than your average folding-table affair.

The goods: more than 400 water-wise plants, all locally grown in recycled pots with organic custom-mix soil. Think rare ‘Red Tiger’ Abutilons, Spiral Peruvian Apple Cacti, Hawaiian Plumerias, Tiger Fig Panache trees, plus a deep bench of Aeoniums, Agaves, Aloes, and hundreds of succulents. Bring the kids — there’s a Junior Botanist Expedition at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. where they name and adopt their own “plant pup,” an all-day Botanical Scavenger Hunt with a Mother of Thousands baby plant on the line, and a kid-run refreshment stand pouring coffee, donuts, and fresh juices alongside recipes pulled from the “Bungalow Heaven Cookie Book.”

Ten percent of plant sales and every cent of bake-sale proceeds fund the Kids Club’s monthly programs. Show up early, leave with something green, and let the seven-year-old at the till keep the change.

1285 N. Wilson Ave., Bungalow Heaven, Pasadena. Sunday, May 3, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Free admission.
