where audiences will find themselves witnesses to a shooting during their afternoon tea.
413 Repertory Theater’s production of Neil Simon’s “Rumors” at Madeline Garden Bistro turns traditional dinner theater on its head, immersing guests directly into the chaos of an upscale dinner party gone wrong. Audiences arrive to discover their hostess missing and the deputy mayor shot in the head.
The show runs Aug. 15 to 31, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. at the bistro located at 1030 E. Green Street in Pasadena.
The experience includes a complete English high-tea meal featuring scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts, with seating opening 30 minutes before curtain.
Tickets range from $75 to $105, with VIP admission including front-row seating and champagne.
The immersive production is directed by Annabelle Borke and produced by Julie Burlington.
The venue itself carries historical intrigue beyond the theatrical murder mystery. “I was told by a few of the scientists who worked for me… that the trigger mechanism for one of the bombs or devices was fabricated in the garage of the facility,” recalled Dennis Laack, former Commanding Officer of the U.S. Navy Undersea Research & Development Center, describing the site’s past in atomic research.
