The 2023 Pasadena Bead and Design Show opens on Friday, Jan. 6, at the Hilton Pasadena.
For over three days, between 10 a.m. and p.m., bead enthusiasts can shop and buy beads, art clothing, jewelry, gemstones, textiles, findings, and embellishments direct from artisans and tradespeople at excellent prices. The show features the largest selection of handcrafted beads, art jewelry and gems, the organizers said.
Many products are being offered for the first time – and by the artisans themselves. These include an array of designer accessories such as felted hats, artwear, hand-dyed silks, hand tooled leather, and eco-dyed and upcycled clothing.
Workshops are offered daily, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., taught by beadmakers and artisans offering step-by-step instruction for all skill levels, and most include tools and materials. Topics and projects include jewelry design, polymer clay, wirework, crystal setting, bead making, art clay silver, hand knotting, mixed media, chainmaille, and enameling.
Admission is $8 online or $10 at the door, good for all three days. The show is open to the public, with both wholesale and retail pricing. Each ticket includes a color catalog with a listing of the exhibitors, and gives you access to all exhibits where you can meet artists, artisans, and merchants and buy directly from them.
