A cherished tradition continues as Pasadena Waldorf School, which provides education from early childhood through 12th grade across two campuses in Altadena, prepares to welcome an expected 4,000 visitors to its 37th Annual Elves’ Faire.
The Nov. 23 event, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., has evolved from a simple school fundraiser into one of the largest community celebrations in the Altadena-Pasadena area.
“What makes this event so special and enduring is the magical blend of Waldorf tradition, community spirit, and the joyful experience it offers to all ages,” said Stuart Brawley, the Elves’ Faire Producer.
This year’s event introduces The Celestial Circus with aerial dance performances, alongside live music, games, and traditional offerings like leather crafting, flower crown making, and the school’s Chic Boutique.
Visitors can explore the Wishing Well school store and enjoy various food and drink options while experiencing the faire’s emphasis on holistic education through hands-on activities.
At the heart of the festivities lies the beloved Angel Room, where young visitors select gifts in a carefully curated environment. “The magic of this experience lies in the wonder and surprise that surrounds each carefully chosen treasure,” Brawley explained.
The event’s success relies heavily on community participation, drawing volunteers from various groups connected to the school. “Central to the logistics is the dedicated volunteer system, which includes parents, teachers, alumni, and Pasadena Waldorf School students,” Brawley said.
As the school’s largest annual fundraiser, the faire supports multiple initiatives.
“The funds raised contribute to faculty development, allowing teachers to engage in ongoing training,” Brawley noted.
The proceeds also support classroom materials, campus maintenance and improvements, and tuition assistance programs, reinforcing the school’s commitment to educational excellence.
Free parking for the event is available at Mountain View Cemetery (2400 N. Fair Oaks Ave.) and Mountain View Mausoleum (2300 Marengo Ave.), with shuttle service provided to the school gates at 209 E. Mariposa Street.
Visitors arriving before 11 a.m. are directed to use the Fair Oaks lot, as the Marengo Avenue location opens later in the morning.
