The 56th NAACP Image Awards will be broadcast live on BET from Pasadena on this day. The Awards, honoring excellence in entertainment and literature of color, have a long-standing connection with Pasadena. Despite changing networks over the decades, Pasadena remains a consistent location for the live broadcasts. The awards show honors outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts and entertainment. Submissions for nomination consideration open on August 26 this year and close on November 8, according to a press release from the NAACP. Early Bird Submissions will close on Friday, October 11. The performance or project submitted cannot be from a previously released work that would have qualified in a prior year. Nominations will be unveiled on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
