Enjoy a day of lectures, workshops, fitness classes, fun and inspiration to promote healthy aging at Pasadena Senior Center's #Age Well Day 2024! The day will kick off with a keynote presentation by Dr. Anthony Hou, M.D., Chief of Service, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles. A complimentary Continental Breakfast will be included. Reservations are requested. Please use the registration button at the above link to register. • 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. - Keynote presentation Dr. Anthony Hou, M.D. Department of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine, and Continuing Care, Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. • 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.- Medicinal Use of Cannabis and CBD for Seniors - Learn about the benefits and common uses of Cannabis & CBD, as well as California laws and facility policies governing use, and senior-specific dosing and product selection. • 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. How to Protect Yourself from Scams, Fraud and Identity Theft - This class will address what to look for to prevent fraud and identify theft, and how to combat the most common scams targeting older adults. Learn best practices to follow to stay safe and Cyber-Secure. Tai Chi to Exercise Brain, Body, and Mind for a Healthy and Active Life This interactive class will cover the benefits of Tai Chi for seniors to improve overall well-being as you learn foundational Tai Chi movements to maintain proper posture, improve balance, and use relaxation techniques. • 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. - A Roadmap for a Successful Retirement - This class will focus on key areas to guide you in retirement, including financial wellness and security, emotional and mental well-being, and health and self-advocacy. Senior Yoga and Fitness: Functional Movement at Any Age. You will be guided through an interactive class of “senior-friendly” Yoga techniques and Upper Body Strengthening methods to maintain your flexibility and balance, while improving your mental awareness and clarity. Ongoing Activities: • Watercolor Class paintings on Display • Resource Fair • One-on-one Smart Phone tutoring • Blood Pressure and Glucose testing • Balance testing • Book and Card sale • Billiard drop-in play • Drop-in orientation to the Fitness Center. No workouts please. Refreshments: 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Complimentary Coffee and Breakfast snacks; 11:30 a.m.- 1:15 p.m. Lunch available for purchase.
