The Eaton Fire has had a devastating impact on Upper Hastings neighborhood: Over 80 homes have been destroyed; More than 30 homes are yellow-tagged due to structural concerns; Countless others, remain uninhabitable due to severe smoke and ash contamination. Upper Hastings Ranch community is committed to coming together and supporting one another. One of its longtime residents, Patricia Hamada, who lost her home in the fire, is leading efforts to organize an event aimed at uplifting spirits and uniting neighbors. A Block Party will be held on February 17th from 12–4 PM on Alegria Street, one of Pasadena’s most iconic streets during the holiday season. The event will feature:
  • Food provided by World Central Kitchen, The Habit Burger, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream
  • Live entertainment, including a Dragon and Lion Dance performance by the San Gabriel Chinese Cultural Association to bring luck and prosperity to recovery efforts, along with a DJ
  • Family-friendly activities such as bounce houses and raffles
More than just a gathering, this event aims to showcase the strength of the community, raise awareness for ongoing recovery efforts, and ensure that the losses suffered are not forgotten. Discussions are currently underway with municipal representatives and other organizations, and media coverage is encouraged. Given Upper Hastings Ranch’s history of spreading joy to thousands during the holiday season, this moment of resilience and unity is expected to be equally meaningful.
