This coming week, Mayor Victor M. Gordo will deliver the 2025 Mayor’s State of the City Address at the Pasadena Elks Lodge. As mandated by the City Charter, the Mayor is required to present a thematic budget message for the upcoming fiscal year no later than February. This event serves as an important opportunity for the community to come together, reflect on past achievements, and chart the course for the future. This year’s address takes place in the aftermath of the Eaton Fire—a disaster that has caused unprecedented devastation and heartbreak across the region. The neighboring community of Altadena experienced the greatest impact, suffering the loss of homes, businesses, and cherished spaces. Yet, in the face of such challenges, the strength and resilience of the community have shone through. Pasadena and Altadena share a deep historical connection, common values, and, most importantly, a spirit of compassion and solidarity. Throughout moments of triumph and adversity, the community has stood together. City staff, first responders, and countless volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide relief, rebuild, and restore hope. The road to recovery will not be easy, but the community will face it together. Pasadena and Altadena will rebuild, recover, and emerge stronger—because resilience and unity define these communities. Residents are invited to join Mayor Gordo in reaffirming a collective commitment to one another, to the city, and to a shared future. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with free on-site parking available at entrances on both Green St. and Colorado Blvd. Spanish translation services will be provided.
