Save the Date! The Bridge Party is Back! In 1913, the Colorado Street Bridge opened to the public and eventually became part of the newly established Route 66, winding from Chicago to Los Angeles. However, in 1977, plans were made to demolish the bridge—until Pasadena Heritage intervened, successfully saving it from destruction. The following year, in 1978, a celebratory event was held on the bridge, marking the victory and solidifying Pasadena Heritage’s role as a leading advocate for historic preservation. The bridge has since become the organization’s emblem. Pasadena Heritage’s signature community event, the Colorado Street Bridge Party, will return on Saturday, July 19th, from 6:00 PM – 11:30 PM. During this celebration, the bridge will be closed to traffic, allowing attendees to enjoy live music on multiple stages, a variety of local gourmet food options, children’s activities, a display of vintage first responder vehicles, and much more. Held every other year and last hosted in 2023, this beloved event provides crucial funding for Pasadena Heritage’s historic preservation programs and advocacy efforts throughout the city. Sponsorship opportunities are currently available, and tickets will go on sale later this spring. Those interested in sponsoring this iconic celebration, purchasing a booth, or displaying a vintage emergency vehicle are encouraged to contact BP@pasadenaheritage.org for more information.
