Come one, come all! As the beautiful California spring season rolls in, a special literary salon is being held at the publishing offices in Pasadena, CA. On Thursday, April 3rd, attendees are invited to join for an author reading, hors d'oeuvres from Portos, and a behind-the-scenes look at where books undergo editing, design, publicity, and more. In light of recent devastation in the area, the publishing team is excited to open their doors for a night of artistic expression and community connection. This special event will feature three standout Armenian authors: Nancy Kricorian (Burning Heart of the World, Red Hen Press), Lory Bedikian (Jagadakeer: Apology to the Body, University of Nebraska Press), and Arthur Kayzakian (The Book of Redacted Paintings, Black Lawrence Press). They will discuss their literary journeys, the motivations behind their work, and their recent collections. (Don’t stop scrolling yet - more details about their work are at the above provided link!) Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the everyday literary landscape where publishing magic happens. Ever wondered how a manuscript evolves from its initial editing stages to a final, polished product? Or how tall a stack of books has to be before it's considered “precarious” and “structurally unsound”? What about how many cups of coffee it takes to power a publicity campaign? Or how many hen, chicken, rooster, and fowl-related items can fit in the building before the place starts clucking? Join in on these hard-hitting questions (and much more) by visiting the press. Rest assured, they’re book people. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your seat today!
