When her father is hanged for murdering his wife, the stunning beauty Pearl (Jennifer Jones) is taken in by a wealthy Texan, his wife and their two grown sons (Gregory Peck and Joseph Cotten). In 1971 Norton Simon married Academy Award–winning actress Jennifer Jones. When the Norton Simon Museum opened a few years later, some familiar names in Hollywood were appointed to its board of trustees.
