Loma Alta Park in Altadena is set to reopen on Saturday, May 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the community's recovery from the Eaton Fire. While the exact time of the reopening event has not been officially announced, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation has confirmed the date. The revitalized park will feature several new and enhanced amenities: • Satellite Senior Center: Developed in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Aging and Disabilities, this facility will serve as a new hub for senior activities. • Childcare Services: In collaboration with the Office for the Advancement of Early Care and Education, the park will offer after-school programs for children aged 5–12 and a Tiny Tots program for ages 3–4. • Altadena Library Branch: A satellite branch of the Altadena Library will provide resources and programming for children, families, and seniors. Los Angeles County • Youth@Work Program: In partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, the park will offer employment opportunities for 25 local youth. • Summer Concert Series: The Altadena Rotary Club's annual summer concert series, previously held at Farnsworth Park, will now take place at Loma Alta Park. • OurSPOT Teen Center: The park will reopen its teen center, providing a dedicated space for youth engagement. • Dodgers Dreamfields: Two new baseball and softball fields, funded by the Dodgers Foundation, will support local youth sports. • Clippers Court: The gym and basketball courts have been renovated with support from the Los Angeles Clippers' Community Clippers Court program. • AltaChat Social Space: A new community gathering area featuring comfortable seating to foster social connections.
