Pasadena Walking Tours isn’t walking anyone anywhere at the moment. While some tours are tentatively scheduled beginning April 8, and they are available to join you and a friend on a socially-distanced walk, their team of guides are now sharing their stories in a virtual format.
The group is currently offering history lessons of Pasadena landmarks, neighborhoods, architecture and culture via Zoom, Skype or other digital conferencing media.
Stories on Old Pasadena, Playhouse Village or South Pasadena are obviously available as well as tales of important luminaries of Pasadena’s past. Stories can also be provided as educational lessons for both children and adults.
“We would be happy to set up a time and lead a virtual session on any topic of history, culture, architecture, art, people and landmarks of Los Angeles,” they wrote us on Thursday.
Live Virtual tours are also being scheduled with various itineraries. Drop them a note and Walking Tours will send back a date and time and for a virtual tour using the group’s extensive photo library, using Zoom.
According to a recent email, these virtual tours are free of charge, while purchases of the group’s gift certificates or donations to help out during the isolation period.
Their walking partners, Downtown LA Walking Tours, have also added a new Stories section on their website. They currently have stories about the Hollywood sign, Grand Park, Merced Theater, Chinatown and a self-guided map of Taylor Swift’s footsteps in downtown.
