Published on Nov 5, 2020

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino continues its week of family fun with Future Friday, the next part of The Funtington series, starting at 10 a.m.

Future Friday begins with Bhi Bhiman singing the daily Funtington song, “Best Friends,” when you can join in, grab your pots and pans, and dance and sing along.

In “Story Time,” Cris Lutz, Senior Director of Planning at The Huntington’s Advancement Department, reads “Sofia Valdez, Future Prez” by Andrea Beaty, illustrated by David Roberts.

“Sofia Valdez” is the newest picture book from the creators of “Iggy Peck, Architect,” “Rosie Revere, Engineer,” and “Ada Twist, Scientist.” The book stars Sofia Valdez, a community leader who stands up for what she believes in. The video is available in English and in Spanish.

Next, in “Toaster of the Future, Inspired by the Fielding Collection,” Huntington staffer Riz explains maker culture, 18th century-style. You will learn about the portraits and iron tools in the Jonathan and Karin Fielding Collection and get inspired as well to invent the tools of the future. The video is also available in English and Spanish.

In “Kitchen Magician: Time-Traveling Snacks,” Bob Blumer, the Kitchen Magician, shows you how to make a delicious time-traveling snack: dried fruit necklaces, which includes pineapple, banana, and raisins.

The Funtington: Family Fun at The Huntington is five days of online fun, filled with music, visual art, nature, and cooking demonstrations for kids and all ages. Past episodes include Metamorphosis Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work of Art Wednesday and Secret Garden Thursday.

The series concludes with Family Fun Saturday, on November 14.
