Farmer’s Market vendors and front line workers have now joined the ranks of the vaccinated. Growers and employees from the Pasadena Farmer’s Markets at Villa Parke on Tuesdays and Victory Park on Saturdays last week received their first Covid vaccinations from Huntington Hospital/Pasadena Public Health Department at the Villa Parke Center site.

As Manager Gretchen Sterling wrote in an e-mail, “We are seeing many of our older residents coming back to market shopping in person now that they themselves have finally received their doses of the vaccine. They arrive in the market so pleased to see their friendly favorite farmers.”

According to Sterling, longtime customers are telling her that for many months, either family or friends have done their shopping for their weekly fresh fruits and vegetables.

“It is so good for them to be able to make their own choices and selections,” she said.

It’s a safe for seniors and, well, everyone really, to get out and get fresh air and fresh food.

Strict COVID-19 protocols are still in place, but at least you can enjoy the great outdoors to meet and greet friends in a socially distanced way, and choose from a wide selection of fresh market produce from the farmers who actually grow the food. The market is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The park is located in the 2900 block of North Sierra Madre Boulevard.

As a certified farmers’ market, Pasadena Farmers’ Market provides visitors with fresh, nutritious, locally grown fruits and vegetables that everyone will love.

“Our certified vendors only sell what they grow – or to say it another way, they won’t sell you anything that they did not grow,” a statement on the Pasadena Farmers’ Market website says. “You know where your food came from, and who grew it for you!”

The markets at Victory Park and Villa Parke are proud and active members of the California Federation of Certified Farmers’ Markets. They also have other vendors offering jams, jellies, meat and fish, although you may not find the usual craft vendors at the moment. They’re also not allowing musicians in the meantime but hope to allow them back once social distancing measures are lifted.

In addition to Saturdays at Victory Park, the Pasadena Farmers’ Market is also open Tuesday mornings at Villa Parke.

Face coverings are required per the Pasadena Health Department to enter the market.
