Mark Fedde still hears the stories. Customers walk through the doors of Fedde’s Fine Home Furnishings on East Colorado Boulevard, reminiscing about how their grandparents once bought their first living room set here, how their parents returned for a dining table, and how they themselves are now looking for the perfect bedroom set.
It is this multigenerational trust, Fedde says, that has sustained the family-owned business, remarkably for nearly nine decades.
“We’ve been around 88 years because of all of the wonderful customers we’ve had in the San Gabriel Valley and in Southern California,” said Fedde, who is the currentpresident of Fedde’s Fine Home Furnishings. “And it’s special this time because of the obvious challenges that the greater Altadena, Sierra Madre and Pasadena area has faced. We’re happy that we’re able to offer certain manufacturer discounts to try and take advantage of some of the specials they have.”
That opportunity arrives with the store’s Presidents’ Day sale, which brings exclusive discounts on an array of high-quality furniture brands, including Stickley, Lexington and Stressless.
Selected items will be available for immediate delivery—a notable perk in an era of delayed supply chains.
The sale includes 10% off Stressless furniture and $400 off select Stressless recliners and office chairs.
Stickley’s 125th Anniversary Collector Series Floral Tile Collection is available for pre-order now before they are gone, offering customers a commemorative first-cutting edition before they are gone.
For Pasadena homeowners looking to complement the city’s distinctive architecture, Fedde’s offers a curated selection of furniture designed to fit seamlessly into Craftsman, Spanish Revival and ranch-style homes.
“We specifically feature manufacturers that carry products that reflect our community and its architecture,” Fedde said. “We carry Stickley Furniture, and their mission collection is a reflection of the architecture here in the greater San Gabriel Valley. It’s a quality product that’s built to last.”
Customization is another major draw of the sale. Customers selecting sofas or chairs will find an expansive range of fabric options and finishes, many sourced from manufacturers in North Carolina and the Midwest.
“In picking a new sofa or a chair, there’s a large range of choices in all kinds of different fabrics and styles,” Fedde said. “It’s designed so that the features and styles, again, will be a reflection of the area and the homes.”
Shoppers interested in Lexington Furniture’s collections can expect similarly tailored designs, honed by Fedde’s decades-long partnership with the brand. “We’ve carried Lexington for about 45 years and they have a wide range of styles that, in combination with their fabrics and finishes, have some very unique looks that only they offer,” Fedde said. “They have a wide range of styles, and in combination with their fabrics and finishes, they offer some very unique looks that only they provide.”
Beyond the furniture itself, Fedde’s prides itself on offering a white-glove delivery service, maintaining its own fleet and knowledgeable staff to ensure every piece is handled with care.
While many retailers rely on third-party providers, Fedde’s maintains its own fleet and staff. “We have always gone ahead and had our own delivery staff, and that’s critically important,” Fedde said.
“Most businesses today in the home furnishings industry will use a third-party delivery service. But having our own trucks, our own delivery staff who are very knowledgeable in what they handle and deliver—that makes a difference. We set up everything exactly the way it’s supposed to be, answering any questions at the time of delivery.”
While Presidents’ Day weekend is the promotional focal point, discounts will extend beyond the holiday, varying by manufacturer.
“In the case of Stickley furniture, that actually ends on Feb. 25,” Fedde said. “But it’s important to get the information so you can make an educated decision.”
For those unable to visit in person, Fedde’s will provide additional product details upon request, ensuring customers have all the information they need before making a purchase. “There just aren’t as many quality furniture manufacturers out there anymore,” Fedde said. “We’re very proud of what our knowledgeable and experienced staff does in helping to educate our customers.”
