Kenneth Turan
Renowned film critic Kenneth Turan will continue his nearly three-decade tradition of providing Oscar insights when he speaks at All Saints Church in Pasadena on Sunday, March 2. The free event offers the public an opportunity to hear expert analysis of current cinema trends and Oscar contenders while also introducing Turan’s latest book on Hollywood legends.
Turan will present “his annual pre-Academy Awards look at what’s hot and what’s not in recent film festivals and in the Oscar race” at the church’s 9:00 a.m. Forum. He will also discuss his new book, “Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg: The Whole Equation.”
The event marks a significant milestone in Turan’s relationship with All Saints Church, where he has appeared on Oscar Sundays for nearly 30 years. His presentation continues to draw cinema enthusiasts to the historic Episcopal parish founded in 1883.
Before retiring in April 2020, Turan established himself as an influential voice in film criticism through his work with the Los Angeles Times and National Public Radio’s Morning Edition. His expertise extends beyond film reviews, having served as the director of the Los Angeles Times Book Prizes and as a staff writer for the Washington Post. Turan also contributed to academic discourse as an instructor of film reviewing and non-fiction writing at USC.
All Saints Church, located at 132 N. Euclid Avenue directly across from Pasadena City Hall, welcomes all community members to attend.
