First Church of the Nazarene Plans Christmas Eve Service and Art Exhibition in Pasadena

Local congregation combines traditional carols with contemporary art display for holiday season
Published on Dec 21, 2024

The First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena, known as PazNaz, will hold its annual Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, Dec. 24, at its 3700 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. location.

“Christmas Eve at PazNaz is always special,” a statement on the Church’s website says. “Our hope is to faithfully remember the Christmas story through singing carols together, hearing scripture, and being invited into new and ancient ways the good news of Jesus’ birth can bring healing and hope to our community.”

The service, scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m., aims to incorporate both new and ancient approaches to celebrating the holiday through carols and scripture readings.

The PazNaz English worshiping community will continue its seasonal celebrations with a Christmas Sunday worship service on Dec. 29 at 9:30 a.m., focusing on commemorating the birth of Jesus.

In conjunction with the holiday services, the church is hosting the second installment of its inaugural Gallery Doxa art exhibition in the Sanctuary Foyer, exploring traditional Advent themes.

The art show, running through Dec. 29, invites visitors to consider what it means to wait for Christ with hope, peace, joy and love through various artistic interpretations.

Art books featuring works from both the current display and first portion of the Gallery Doxa exhibition are available for purchase at the church’s PepperTree store for $20.

PazNaz is also conducting its annual Christmas Love Offering, accepting specially marked “Staff Christmas” contributions throughout December to support, custodial, director level, and pastoral church staff.

Church administrators have reminded congregants that all year-end donations must be received or postmarked by Dec. 31 to qualify for the 2024 tax year.
