On a golden Saturday evening in Pasadena, Five Acres marked a milestone a century in the making with The Golden Five Acres Gala.
Held June 6 at a private club, the sold-out celebration brought together an inspiring mix of community leaders, longtime supporters, and friends of the organization, all gathered to honor 100 years of the Altadena campus—a place that has quietly changed the lives of thousands of children and families.
With a nod to the 1920s, the evening carried a sense of timeless elegance. Guests sipped classic cocktails, enjoyed curated fare, and were entertained by live music and moments of magic that added a sense of wonder to the night.
The Altadena campus, which opened in 1926 and was designed by renowned architect Myron Hunt, has long stood as a symbol of safety and healing. Originally established as a residential home, Five Acres has evolved into a comprehensive organization offering foster care, adoption services, and critical mental and behavioral health support—while staying rooted in its founding mission of keeping children safe and families strong.
The evening was led by Gala Committee co-chairs, mother-daughter duo Tera Wild and Trish Gonzales, whose leadership helped bring both warmth and purpose to the celebration. Throughout the night, speakers and supporters reflected on the organization’s enduring legacy and the countless lives shaped by its work.
Proceeds from the gala will directly support children in foster care and families receiving essential services, ensuring that the mission continues to grow in reach and impact.
While the night honored a rich history, it was equally focused on the future. The Golden Five Acres Gala was not just a centennial celebration—it was a renewed commitment to the next 100 years of care, compassion, and community.
Since its founding in 1888, Five Acres has remained dedicated to protecting vulnerable children, now serving more than 7,000 children and family members each year across six counties. Guided by its core pillars of safety, well-being, and permanency, the organization continues to work toward a future where every child has a stable, loving home.
