Five Decades Later, Rose Bowl Flea Market’s Monthly Ritual Endures

Over 2,500 vendors and 20,000 treasure hunters gather for America's most famous flea market

Every second Sunday, thousands of treasure hunters converge on the Rose Bowl Stadium for a ritual that has persisted for over half a century: the hunt for vintage finds and unexpected discoveries.

The tradition continues Sunday, August 10, when the Rose Bowl Flea Market returns from 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The monthly gathering, organized by R.G. Canning Attractions under CEO Mike Redd, has become a community institution where generations have made memories among vendor stalls.

Children under 12 enter free with a paying adult.

Permanent vendors must possess a $10 annual ID card and maintain three months of advance ticket purchases.

The deep bonds formed over decades aren’t lost on organizers.

Reflecting on the market’s 50th anniversary in 2020, Mike Redd captured what keeps people returning: “Our 50th anniversary is a testament to the level of passion that goes into every event since the day we started. Among the many faces we see each month are those who have been with us since the beginning – whether they be longtime vendors or customers – and it’s for them we celebrate.”
