Published on Nov 7, 2024

The Department of Visual & Performing Arts at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, a Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose School in Pasadena, opens Kate Hamill’s adaptation of “Little Women” this Thursday through Sunday, November 10.

The production, featuring 23 student actors and an all-student technical crew, represents a fresh interpretation that highlights feminist perspectives and themes of solidarity among the March sisters.

Theater Teacher Jane MacEneaney directs the ambitious undertaking, while Technical Director and Stagecraft Teacher Johnny Burton provides technical oversight for the Dominican independent school’s fall theatrical presentation.

The performances will run for four consecutive days at the academy’s Hilltop campus, with evening shows Thursday through Saturday and matinee offerings on both Saturday and Sunday.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, committed to educating young women for a life of faith, integrity, and truth, emphasizes developing students who pursue truth while serving God and others.

The school’s approach aligns with its Dominican educational philosophy, encouraging students to examine their identities and express ideas without fear in a non-judgmental setting.

The production opens Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., with subsequent performances Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
