“When you take a shower, you start your day off right. You know what I’m saying? You want to start your day off right, a shower and a good breakfast, that makes your day go right.”
It’s a simple dignity most take for granted, but for in Pasadena’s 581 homeless residents—a 4 percent increase from 2024—access to basic hygiene transforms more than appearance.
All Saints Episcopal Church will open its north driveway Monday, August 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering free showers, meals, haircuts and medical care.
The church’s Showers of Hope program joins a county-wide network that delivered over 37,000 hot showers to homeless individuals across Los Angeles County in the year preceding May.
At All Saints, the 2024 numbers reflect sustained need: 1,384 showers, 348 haircuts, 2,594 meals, and 280 medical visits.
The program has connected over 40 people to permanent housing since its start.
“We are pleased that since the program’s start over 40 individuals have been placed in permanent housing,” said Erica Tamblyn, ministry leader for the Safe Haven Bridge to Housing program.
Eighty-three percent of in Pasadena’s homeless are single adults without children, according to the city’s 2025 Point-in-Time Count.
Showers of Hope at All Saints will run on Monday, August 4, at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All Saints Episcopal Church, 132 N. Euclid Ave., in Pasadena. For more call (626) 796-1172 or visit https://allsaints-pas.org/calendarevent/showers-of-hope-5/. Tickets: Free.
