Participants can reserve one-hour slots between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to meet with mentors from SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives). A resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the nonprofit has assisted more than 17 million entrepreneurs since 1964.
The initiative aligns with Library Director Tim McDonald’s strategy, described by City Manager Márquez as a “clear vision of public libraries as essential hubs of information.”
Volunteers from the SCORE Los Angeles Chapter, recently named “2025 District Chapter of the Year,” will staff the sessions. In 2024, the chapter served over 18,000 entrepreneurs.
Mentors include Richard “RP” Mader, a volunteer since 2000 and co-founder of Mader News, Inc., who brings decades of industry experience.
In 2024, SCORE volunteers helped establish 59,447 new businesses and generated 143,623 jobs nationwide. “For every $1 SCORE received in federal funding, it generated $45.42 in new federal tax revenue,” said SCORE CEO Bridget Weston.
Appointments are required and can be reserved up to 14 days in advance. Registration is available online or by calling (626) 744-7266.
SCORE Small Business Mentoring will run Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lamanda Park Branch Library, 140 S. Altadena Drive, in Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 744-7266 or visit https://www.cityofpasadena.net/library/?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D192711666.
