Tuesday Musicale of Pasadena will present a free chamber music concert on Tuesday, February 3, at 12:30 p.m. at the First Church of Christ Scientist, continuing a tradition that stretches back more than a century.

The program features viola soloist Tammy Cognetta with pianist Laraine Madden performing works by Gabriel Fauré and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Madden will also perform Mozart’s “Fantasia in D minor” as a piano solo.

A string quartet will perform Antonín Dvořák’s String Quartet, with Linda Tajima and Timothy Hummel on violins, Cognetta on viola, and Judy Cain on cello. Vocal duets by Gwen Brown and Marina Battifora round out the program.

Founded in 1914, Tuesday Musicale has promoted musical knowledge and performance in Pasadena for over a century. The organization presents monthly Tuesday concerts from October through June, all free and open to the public.

The concerts take place at the First Church of Christ Scientist at 80 S. Oakland Avenue in Pasadena. The 2026 season includes concerts on January 6, February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, and June 2.

Tuesday Musicale also sponsors Crown City Symphony, a free community orchestra founded in 2002 that presents several concerts each season at Pasadena churches.

Tuesday Musicale in Concert will run on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 12:30 p.m. First Church of Christ Scientist, 80 S. Oakland Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101. For more information, call (626) 797-1994 or visit https://tuesdaymusicaleca.org/public-events/.
