The Sierra Madre Community Services Department will host a free community screening of “Inside Out 2” on Friday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. in Memorial Park as part of its Movies in the Park series.
Directed by Kelsey Mann in his feature debut, the Pixar sequel revisits Riley, now a teenager, and introduces four new emotions—Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui—alongside the original five: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger.
“I really wanted to direct ‘Inside Out 2’ because I felt like there was more story to tell,” Mann said in press materials. “At the end of the first film, Joy asked the audience, ‘After all, Riley is twelve now—what could happen?’ Well, I wanted to answer that question.”
The film has earned acclaim for deepening the emotional landscape of the original. Variety called it “a triumphant creative return for Pixar.” Amy Poehler, who reprises her role as Joy, voices one of the film’s central themes: “I’ve learned that every emotion is good.”
Families are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks.
The screening is free and open to all ages.
