The workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids and teens ages five to 15 can learn woodworking basics using hand tools, while a separate mending workshop welcomes all ages. No registration is required—admission is first come, first served.
Participants will learn fundamental techniques including sanding, sawing, shaping, drilling, setting screws, using clamps, hammering, and incising. All materials are provided by Side Street Projects, a nonprofit artist-run mobile organization that has been “connecting artists to community since 1992.”
The workshop is part of an ongoing partnership between Pasadena Public Library and Side Street Projects. Another program is scheduled for February 28, featuring woodworking for ages five to 15 plus an additional all-ages workshop.
Jefferson Branch Library, which opened in 2022, serves as Pasadena’s hub for youth services while the Central Library undergoes seismic retrofitting.
