A new French vegan bakery and wine bar opens in Pasadena this October. Chef Romuald “Romy” Guiot, owner of the existing vegan patisserie ID-Eclair, is slated to expand his culinary offerings with La Cave.
The establishment, to open at 169 W Green Street, will combine plant-based French pastries with a curated wine selection, said a report on What’s Now LA.
La Cave will double as a wine bar and serve plated desserts, adding a new dimension to Guiot’s vegan repertoire.
Guiot, a fourth-generation chef, has built a reputation for creating innovative vegan and gluten-free versions of traditional French sweets. His current shop, ID-Eclair, offers a variety of treats including desserts in jars, edible cookie spoons, cookies, biscuits, canneles, and macarons.
The chef’s culinary journey began in France, where he found his love for culinary arts by spending time in his grandfather’s restaurant. Before moving to the United States, Guiot served as an executive chef for several bakeries in his home country.
Guiot’s talent has not gone unnoticed in the culinary world. He was a finalist on Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship, showcasing his skills on a national platform.
La Cave aims to create a cozy atmosphere where patrons can enjoy high-quality, plant-based French cuisine. The concept reflects Guiot’s commitment to making vegan alternatives of classic French pastries accessible to a wider audience.
The new establishment will join Pasadena’s growing culinary scene, offering locals and visitors alike a unique blend of French baking tradition and contemporary plant-based innovation.
Guiot’s expansion suggests a growing demand for vegan options in upscale dining. It also promises to be a testament to Guiot’s culinary expertise and his ongoing mission to reimagine French pastry for the vegan palate.
