Visit Big Bear, the mountain community’s tourism bureau, launched a promotion this week offering complimentary lift tickets to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain for guests who book a two-night minimum lodging stay on BigBear.com.
The deal, called “March to the Mountains,” covers check-in dates from March 16 through April 17, and comes on the heels of a storm that buried the San Bernardino Mountains under more than three feet of snow last week, according to multiple snow condition reports.
Big Bear Lake sits roughly 88 miles from Pasadena — under two hours on CA-210 through the San Bernardino Mountains.
The promotion works on a tiered system, according to the Visit Big Bear press release. Guests who spend between $250 and $599 on lodging receive one free lift ticket. Those who spend $600 or more receive two. The tickets are redeemable at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain during the dates of the reserved stay.
“The free lift-ticket deal is a no-brainer for those looking to enjoy all of the fresh snow we received last week!” Travis Scott, CEO of Visit Big Bear, said in a statement. “Simply stay over for two nights from March 16 onward, and we’ll give you a day on the slopes absolutely free!”
To qualify, guests must book through Book.BigBear.com and opt into the promotion on their booking confirmation. They will receive a QR code, which must be presented along with a lodging confirmation and matching photo ID at the Big Bear Lake Visitors Center at 40824 Big Bear Blvd., open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The booking window closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Free lift tickets are limited and available while supplies last. The deal applies to new bookings only and cannot be combined with other promotions. Blackout dates and other restrictions may apply, according to the press release.
Bear Mountain reported a 36-inch base depth as of Tuesday, and current conditions include sunny skies with daytime temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s, according to the resort’s snow report.
Guests who book directly with a participating lodging property within the City of Big Bear Lake — rather than through BigBear.com — may also qualify, provided the property opts the reservation into the promotion, according to the Visit Big Bear website.
The snow that triggered the deal also triggered something else: roads plowed, sun shining, and a mountain still white enough to last well into spring.
