Friendship, Fashion, and Vision Sparkle at The Luminaires of Doheny Eye Institute Luncheon

The Luminaires of Doheny Eye Institute held its annual benefit on a lovely spring day in March, at the iconic Langham Huntington, Pasadena Hotel. The event hosted 260 members and their guests. The theme of this year’s gathering was “Timeless Elegance,” a tribute to the sophistication and grace of the organization’s long-standing Lamp Society members of over 25 years.

The morning reception included a boutique shopping experience, followed by a glamorous fashion show with elegant clothes by Robert Ellis Boutique, a delicious luncheon, and a video tribute honoring the legacy of 39 Lamp Society Luminaires.

The program featured a warm welcome from Doheny CEO Marissa Goldberg, followed by a champagne toast led by Dr. Benjamin Bert, an ophthalmologist and cornea specialist. Under the leadership of Luminaires President Jinny Dalbeck and Benefit Co-Chairs Jennifer Cooper and Peggy Schmid, the afternoon blended high fashion, friendship, and purpose raising funds to further the Doheny Eye Institute’s vital mission to conserve, improve, and restore human eyesight through groundbreaking research, education, and eye care.

The Luminaires Benefit culminated with the Presentation of the Vision Award, which has only been given seven times in the 52-year history of the group. Most recently, it was presented to Alyce Williamson in 2020. It is with great honor that The Luminaires and its Board of Directors honored Mary Catherine Cooper with a presentation of the Vision Award for her extraordinary support and vibrant contributions to the community, Doheny Eye Institute, and the Luminaires Board for over 25 years.
