Families Forward Learning Center Soiree 2026
Families Forward Learning Center will host its annual Soirée on Saturday, May 2, at the University Club of Pasadena. The evening will honor Joy Masoff, a generous donor whose support has transformed the organization’s library into a welcoming and inspiring space for the children and families it serves. The center is proud to recognize Masoff as an integral part of the Families Forward community.
“We are incredibly grateful for Joy’s kindness and vision. She has helped create a space where our children feel inspired, safe, and excited to learn, which is something that will benefit our families for years to come,” said Elva Sandoval, Executive Director.
Masoff and her garden-loving husband moved from the East Coast to San Marino five years ago to be near their daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons. From a humble start designing book jacket spines and backs at Random House to eventually building an innovative textbook publishing company with her husband nearly 25 years ago, books have always held a special magic for her.
A philanthropist at heart, Masoff sought out a nonprofit organization to become involved with; after stepping into the Families Forward library—then in need of care—she knew immediately, “I’ve found my place.”
Families Forward Learning Center invites community members to visit FamiliesForwardLC.org to become sponsors or purchase tickets for the Soirée.
Serving Pasadena since 1961, Families Forward Learning Center operates on a two-generation learning model that empowers both parents and children to gain knowledge and skills that improve outcomes for the entire family. The organization ensures that children are safe, healthy, and developmentally on track while helping parents strengthen literacy, self-sufficiency, and advocacy skills to actively support their children’s education and overall well-being.
