Altadena Rotary’s Semi-Annual Pancake Breakfast lands this morning, 8 to 10:30, at the Grocery Outlet on North Lake — and this round, the tickets are free. Dine in, take a stack to go, and slide a few bucks toward two of the most quietly essential outfits in town: the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team and the Christmas Tree Lane Association.
Worth knowing who you’re feeding. AMRT has been pulling hikers off the San Gabriels since 1951 — the oldest mountain rescue unit in Los Angeles County, all volunteer, roughly 100 calls a year. Christmas Tree Lane is the deodar cedars on Santa Rosa, lit every December since 1920, on the National Register since 1990. Both run on neighbors and goodwill.
Donate via PayPal or Venmo with “Pancake Breakfast” in the note, or drop something at the door. Bring the kids, bring an appetite, bring the friend who keeps meaning to do more for Altadena and hasn’t quite gotten around to it.
