The evening will commence with a special screening of “Lamento,” featuring Moreno, Tony Revolori and Juan Pablo Olyslager, directed by Diego Contreras. The film premiered worldwide via Rolling Stone on March 28, and was shot at the ruins of Turicentro Likin in Guatemala, a site eroded by climate change that serves as both setting and metaphor.
“This is a story of longing and loss, of dreams that pull us forward and roots that call us back,” Moreno said of the film.
Director Diego Contreras described the symbolic weight of the filming location: “As immigrants, we build lives elsewhere, yet a part of us never leaves. Turicentro Likin … is way more than just a place. It’s a symbol of home, family, culture—the essence of who we are,” according to promotional materials.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Moreno, allowing direct audience engagement on universal themes of identity, heritage and creative evolution.
Film Screening and Conversation with Grammy Winner Gaby Moreno will take place at Westerbeck Recital Hall, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. The event runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For updated information, visit https://pasadena.edu/calendars/event.php?eventid=19832my_key_0. Ticket: Free event for PCC students and community
