A new series of free bicycle maintenance workshops launching this weekend promises to put bike repair skills directly into community hands, part of a national effort to make cycling safer and more accessible.
Day One will host “Bicycle Chain Maintenance, Cleaning & Replacement” on Sunday, August 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 175 N. Euclid Ave., in Pasadena. The workshop kicks off a series made possible by Day One’s selection as one of 10 recipients of the League of American Bicyclists’ Community Spark Grants.
The series aims to catalyze the community’s ability to create places where bicycling and other forms of active transportation are safer, easier and more accessible, according to the grant program’s mission.
The workshop is free to attend, but space is limited and requires advance registration through bit.ly/DObikeworkshop.
The Community Spark Grant program sponsors initiatives designed to improve bicycle accessibility and safety in local communities. Day One’s workshop series represents a practical approach to building cycling infrastructure through education and skill-building.
Additional workshops in the series have not yet been announced.
