The group meets every Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the library, located at 140 South Altadena Drive. Each week, participants gather to “review different literary selections” and discuss what they’ve read, according to the Pasadena Public Library’s official program description.
“The Great Literature Discussion Group, a weekly gathering for book enthusiasts, continues its meetings at the Lamanda Park Branch Library in Pasadena,” according to local coverage. “The group, which caters to adult readers, meets for an hour each week to explore and discuss renowned works of literature.”
The program targets readers ages 50 and older. Prospective members can call the branch at (626) 744-7266 to learn which book the group is currently discussing.
Recent discussions have included “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” (March 10) and “James” by Percival Everett (March 24), reflecting the group’s focus on canonical and contemporary literature.
Tim McDonald, Director of Libraries and Information Services for Pasadena Public Library, views the institution as fulfilling a vital role as a hub of information and community activity. The library system maintains neighborhood branches located within a mile of every home in the city.
The library offers accessibility accommodations. “Participants requiring accessibility accommodations should contact the hosting branch library with at least 72 hours advance notice to help ensure availability,” according to the library’s official accessibility policy.
